A lot of the interest in Jacob & Co Mohali comes from families with roots in Punjab who now live in Canada, the UK, Australia or the Gulf. If that’s you, here’s how buying from abroad actually works — without the jargon.
Why this project appeals from overseas
Two reasons come up again and again. First, the location: Jacob & Co Residences Mohali is about 10–15 minutes from Chandigarh International Airport*, so visits home are easy. Second, the name: a global brand is easier to explain, and arguably easier to sell on, than a local one you’ve never heard of.
Seeing it without flying in
Start with a video-call site visit. We’ll walk you round the site and the sample plans, and you can ask questions in real time. Many NRI buyers then fly in once, for the visit that matters, before committing.
Paying from abroad
NRIs usually pay for property in India through an NRE or NRO account, or through normal banking channels into India. Always pay the developer’s account directly and keep every receipt. The rules on what you can repatriate later have specifics, so it’s worth a short conversation with your bank or a chartered accountant before you transfer anything large.
Home loans for NRIs
Many Indian banks lend to NRIs, but the paperwork is heavier and rates and eligibility vary. Start the conversation with two or three lenders early — it often takes longer than buyers expect.
When you can’t be there in person
For signing and registration, a registered power of attorney lets a trusted family member in India act for you. Keep its scope as narrow as possible, and take legal advice on how it’s worded.
The checks don’t change
Being far away is a reason to be more careful, not less. RERA is still awaited, so keep any EOI refundable until it’s issued. Once it is, check the land area, tower count and possession date in the filing. Our booking paperwork checklist applies to you just as much.
